Tonight was a great honor and blessing to award the Fischer, Benjamin and Hayes Dowdy Memorial Scholarship to a graduating Salado High School Senior. This years scholarship went to a graduate who was one of two Salado seniors that received a full scholarship from the Navy ROTC to attend Texas A&M. He was later awarded several honors and recognition for being a part of the National Honor Society. Even though I did not know this young man before tonight, it was clear he was an accomplished student. He was also selected by his teachers as Mr. SHS to provide the closing remarks to the ceremony.
He is tall, handsome, polite, and a gracious young man that was awarded my grandsons scholarship and I can’t wait to introduce him to you!
So, without further ado, the 2016 winner of the Fischer, Benjamin and Hayes scholarship is Hayden Ebeling!
Here is Hayden and his parents with the Navy ROTC officers that awarded his ROTC scholarship:
Hayden and I after the ceremony:
I gave Hayden a random of act of kindness card of Fischer and Benjamin with their pictures and will be praying for him as he enters this next phase of his life.
I believe there are no coincidences, and all of the scholarship recipients over the last three years have been such an honor and blessing to help carry the memory of my three blue eyed grandsons forward. May God bless you Hayden in a mighty way!
Blessings to the Ebeling family as they prepare to send Hayden to Aggie Land and congratulations on a job well done!
Hayden: Even though I graduated from the University of Texas, because of where you are going this fall and because my husband was in ROTC at Texas A&M…..let me just say WHOOP and Gig’ EM!
