Day 21: Favorite song over the past year…..”Who You’d be Today”…..Kenny Chesney

Lizz and boys superheroesToday’s song selection is not a worship song.   It is a song by Kenny Chesney, “Who You’d be Today”.   John and I heard this song in the Compassionate Friends conference while someone was signing the words.  I had never heard this song till that moment and was very moved.

To my blog readers who have lost, and to my fellow bereaved parents who walk this path, this is another song to close your eyes, take one of those special memories off the shelf and take it all in.

Sunny days seem to hurt the most
Wear the pain like a heavy coat
I feel you everywhere I go
I see your smile, I see your face
I hear your laugh’ in the rain
I still can’t believe you’re gone

It ain’t fair you died too young
Like a story that had just begun
But death tore the pages all away
God knows how I miss you
All the hell that I’ve been through
Just knowing, no one could take your place
Sometimes I wonder, who you’d be today

Would you see the world
Would you chase your dreams
Settle down with a family
I wonder what would you name your babies
Somedays the sky’s so blue
I feel like I can talk to you
And I know it might sound crazy

It ain’t fair you died too young
Like a story that had just begun
But death tore the pages all away
God knows how I miss you
All the hell that I’ve been through
Just knowing, no one could take your place
Sometimes I wonder, who you’d be today

Today, Today, Today…
Today, Today, Today…

Sunny days seem to hurt the most
I wear the pain like a heavy coat
The only thing that gives me hope
Is I know, I’ll see you again someday

Someday, Someday…

Blessings,

Julie

  1. I absolutely love that song. I had heard it before but never put the words into my own circumstances. Thank you for posting and bringing it to my attention again…I am going to save it to my favorites…love
